AN ADVENTURE IN THE HEART OF THE VINEYARDS
Discover the Chablis landscapes and live a real adventure in the heart of this renowned appellation! This half-marathon, officially measured, will take you through the vineyards in a festive atmosphere.
After a departure from Pontigny (Pontigny Abbey), you will reach the village of Villy and the Marathon course. You will then cross the Serein river to continue your race towards Maligny, place of the 1st refreshment station.
Then, you will continue your race on a flat portion in the middle of the vineyards of la Fourchaume until the refreshment station of Fontenay-Près-Chablis. At the exit of the refreshment station you will start the last difficulty of the day, but not the least. The famous “Wall of the Marathon” will allow you to reach the heights of Fyé where you will finish your race in the heart of the Grands Crus Chablisiens.
Finally, after this descent and the crossing of the D965, you will cross Chablis by skirting the Collegiate Church, and will arrive on the Sector of Patis, where the arrival of the Marathon of Chablis will be judged!
REAL / FICTITIOUS START
Like the Tour de France, there will be a fictional start and a real start. The dummy start will be given at Pontigny Abbey. A slow tempo will be set by an opening vehicle and the peloton will remain grouped behind this vehicle until the real start. The peloton will be stopped a few seconds before the actual start, which will be given at the starter’s pistol shot.
The actual start will take place 900 m after the fictitious start, at the exit of the village. The start will be marked by a totem pole and a timing mat. The actual start is 21.1 km.
